Songs To Break-Up To

Here are some songs I’ve listened to in order to cope with a broken heart. People tell you not to listen to sad songs after a breakup, but I believe those sad songs are sometimes the only thing to help you. Maybe its just me but when you’re going through a rough time, that’s when lyrics really hit you. So, here are a mix of songs that have helped me.

  1. Ta- ku – Love Again (feat. JMSN & Sango)

“Give it time, give it time cause this ain’t no race no. You’ll be fine, you’ll be fine do whatever it takes oh. Just realize, realize it’s all what you make it.” – I love this song because it made me realize that no matter what I’d be fine. Finding love isn’t a race and it would come when it would. I simply had to know that I’d be okay with or without it.

2.  Jhene´ Aiko – Remember

“Tell all the homies that you’re the one to blame and when you speak my name I’d like you to explain the lies you told me. That’s why I walked away, I never did complain, you never heard me say, “You’s a sucka ass, busta ass”. If they ask, tell them that I ain’t mad, I’m just sad it never worked out. Now you coming back, second chance, fuck all that. You gave her what we have, and yet there’s still no love loss.” – This song describes how I felt because with everyone I’ve ever been with I never said what I really wanted to say to them. And when it was over I didn’t hate them, just blocked them and moved on.

3. Banks – Someone New

“Believe in you, believe in me we’re meant to be together. I told you weren’t lying, I know you aren’t relying. And now I am supplying you the time and space to let you grow into the person that I know, that I know you could be, and I could be her too. And I’ll come back to you and I ain’t ready for you baby, I ain’t ready for you now. I’m not ready right now please don’t hate me.” – This song helped me feel less guilty about wanting out of a relationship because they couldn’t do right, and I was unhappy, but I wanted to be with them. So, I felt it was best that we separate and give each other space because if you’re going to do what you want anyway you might as well be single, right? If two people are meant to be together then they’ll be together… IF THEY BOTH WANT TO BE TOGETHER. Sometimes taking a break is necessary because when you’ve suffered so much pain you begin to wonder if it’s even worth it. And as much as you want it to be, you know it’s not healthy to keep forcing what isn’t there.

4. Bryson Tiller – Exchange

“This what happens when I think bout you, I get in my feelings yeah, I start reminiscing yeah, next time around fuck I want it to be different yeah. Waiting on a sign, guess it’s time for a different prayer, Lord please save her for me, do this one favor for me. I had to change my play of ways got way too complicated for me. I hope she’s waiting for me….” – This song helped me because in my time of drowning in tears over good for nothings I always imagined someone would actually pray for me to be part of their lives one day. Like I said before sometimes space is necessary in order to become who you need to be for someone else. That’s only if you’re actually getting yourself together because talking to others as if it’ll be something doesn’t do anything but show you’re truly not ready for commitment and you can’t expect someone to sit around and wait for you to get yourself together forever.

5. Childish Gambino – Letters Home

“Take my hand, you don’t even have to call, you’re somewhere out there after all, you’re all I ever wanted.” – It’s simple, this song is how I wanted someone to feel about me, more so the “You’re all I ever wanted…”

6. P!nk – Hell Wit Ya

7. Yuna – Someone Who Can

8. Monica – Now I’m Gone

9. Maroon 5 – Back At Your Door

10. Young Dro – Fuck Dat Bitch

I hope some of these songs, if not all, help you out.
